Lesson Plan Presentations in Class Today

I thought that the presentation over the 50 states was good. The video they used really got my attention and it would a little kids as well. The song he sang was a good idea to help students learn the different states. Oh and his singing was no to bad. The lesson plan over the Watson's go to Georgia was also good. I can see how before reading a book like that you would need to give some background information on that time period. The video at the end really touched my heart. The one over the personalty test was fun and it would be fun to do in a classroom with students. The forth presentation was over Romeo and Juliet light and darkness. I liked how they gave us a new way to look at poison it not being evil. The thumb biting was interesting as well and I agree that my space and face book and other websites and texting are used to fight and start fights in today's society. Overall I think that a four presentations were good.

Voice Thread

I thought it was fun to play with and I can see how it would be good for different subjects or for families to communicate with one another. My partner will not be using it our lesson plan however I might be able to use it in my future classroom.

- How do you feel about Desktop Publishing? We have created a brochure and a resume. What else do you think we can do with Desktop Publishing? If you have to create one thing for your classroom, what would you create by using Publishing and why?

The activities for this week went well I learned a lot about publisher. The brochure was kind of fun I was able to include some of my own pictures and just be creative. I feel that publisher was fun to work with and I will be using it in the future. I think that I can have students make their own brochures promoting FFA to hand out to younger students. Other things that I could create is placemats for the FFA banquet I have done that before using word and I think it would be easier using publisher for that task.

Partner

My partner is Heather and she has been great. She has brought a lot to the table. We are meeting Wend. even tho class has been canceled to work on our power point. I think that we are going to have a good presentation and she has been a big help.

Chapter 7

I think that a teacher should use any tool that is available to reach out to the students. Online chats during class I thick would be a distraction, but if they could chat at home or during a free period about class work then maybe they could have a better understanding of the topic. I think that nothing will ever be better than face to face learning. When you can see the student you can tell if they are getting it and if they are not then you can help them right then and the student does not have to wait till you are on line. I think that podcast is just another way of passing information on it could be helpful if used in the right way. However I will be teaching a more lab based class and I think that the students need to be in the shop are the barn learning through hands on activities. I think that video games have their place and it is not in the classroom. I played videogames when I was younger and so did my brother I think it can help with hand eye coordination, but that is something that students get enough of at home or at friends houses. We do not need to waste valuable class room time on video games.

Delicious

Tell me how you feel about delicious site and what you think about it. Will you use it? Why/why not?

I think that it is a good idea to bookmark your favorite web sites on line. As students we use computers at school and everything gets deleted off all the time and we never know what computer we are going to be on for that day. As teachers we will be using a computer at school may bee more than one and our computers at home as well. If we used Delicious as a way to keep up with web sites we want to revisit they will always be their, and it is quick way for students to find a web site that we have told them to visit. I will be using this web site in the future.

Wikis

I think that it is a good idea to share ideas with others and to talk about them. I am not sure that I would use wikis in my class room because I think that it could get out of hand and would take a great deal of the teachers time to mounter them and the students use them. I think their are just as effective ways for students to help each other than use a wiki. In Ag we will have a lot of hands on activities and that is a good time for students to see what others are doing and they can give opinions and ideas to others at this time. If my students spent their time on the computer talking about how to weld or how to mange livestock instead of doing it then they will not learn how to do it vary well.

I do think that students learn more when thy can discuss thing with each other than when they are just taking notes in a classroom. However in my class I would rather them be doing something productive like building a trailer as a class. This gives them an opportunity to learn from each other and at the same time learn what they are doing instead of learning how to use the Internet. That is for the computer science teacher to teach them.

I do think that students learn different, we are not all the same and if we were it would be easier for teacher but then the world would be a boring place. In my class I will go over the topic and have the students to take notes, then we will go out to the shop or to the barn and have hands on activities for them to get a idea of what is really going on. This will address all types of learners and at the same time hopefully keep the students attention.

excel

I think that is neat to use excel in all the way that we have this week. I like useing it as a gradebook because it is an easy way to keep up with grades and it does the caculations for you. In my field I am not sure that I would use excel other than as a gradebook. However I will rember what I learned this week and when I start teaching I may find a use for it in other ways.

Inspiration

I enjoyed playing with Inspiration and seeing all it had to offer. I think that it would be good for students to use to organize a presentation for class. I wont be assigning to may papers in my class being an Ag. teacher but I'm sure students will have presentations to do. Say a student was giving a report or presentation over the Bovines(cattle) digestive system. They could set up a diagram or web using each stomic as a categories and coming up with subcategories for each one like what is the purpose of each. Maybe tell what vitamins and minerals a ruminate needs or don't need to survive.

I think that using inspiration can help a student keep his/her ideas organized in a fun and easy way. Some students don't do as well when told to sit down with a pen and paper and to brains storm or to come up with a organized web of their ideas. However the colors and the pictures that are used in Inspiration can help a over active kid focus and have fun learning.

What do you think about using blogs? What and how do you think blogs would be useful for education? Some people think using blogs in classrooms is a waste of students’ time. How would you respond?

So far I think blogging is easy. I do think that it is a good idea for teachers to have a blog so parents have a way to see what is going on in class. I do not think it is a waste of time its an easy way for students and parents to find out what is going on in their school. If students had their own blogs then they could see what other students though of class and discuss school with students that they may not ever talk to in person due to schools being so clickish.

A little about me

My name is Kayla Lee Roberts I live in Paris, Texas. This is my second year at A&M Commerce before that I attended Kansas State. Living in Kansas was an adventure and I learned a lot about myself their but I am happy to be back home in Texas. Before Kansas I lived in Corinth, Texas and attended Lake Dallas High School. Now I live in Paris witch is where my family is from. I have two horses that I have trained myself and currently competing in barrel racing on. I want to get in to team penning but have not had the time to do so yet.
